Practice
AHArchitecture is an inventive, client-collaborative Architecture Studio led by Principal Architect + Registered Builder Andrew Hagemann. We have extensive experience in all forms of residential architecture, as well as workplace design and interiors. We work collaboratively with our clients to achieve high standards in design and quality built projects.
Philosophy
AHA operates in the most remote and isolated capital city in the world, which in recent times has seen Western Australia stand out as a desirable destination to live and work. We've grasped this as an essential element in our work by offering new ideas for Architecture in a post-pandemic world. We believe that our isolation, unique climate and culturally diverse community is a healthy incubator for original ideas. We believe that our quality design work provides a diversity of design responses to complex client briefs and a richness of outcomes that respond dynamically to our changing community. AHA projects are taut, lean and robustly beautiful.
Approach
We value continual client collaboration. We listen to our client’s desires and transfer these into built form.
Our work explores the art of making, craftsmanship, material expression and an economy of design. We utilize conventional materials, methods of fabrication and construction, but reinvent these through the application of robust detailing and assembly on site.
Climate responsiveness and sustainability form strong themes in our work. Every AHA project becomes an exploration of the clients brief through clear expressions of space, light, craft + economy.
