[June 2023] Filter House in Mount Lawley Western Australia has been awarded a Commendation in the Residential House New Category in the 2023 Western Australian Architecture Awards. This is our first award in the Single Residential Category and hopefully with more to come! Thanks to the whole Project Team, especially Alexandra Farrington for her wonderful Landscape Design. [May 2023] Deepwater House in Mount Pleasant Western Australia has been featured in The Guardian, with Anne our client front and centre! The Guardian Article focuses on our recent shortlisting in the Sustainability Category of the 2023 Houses Awards, with a review of several examples of Sustainable Architect Designed Homes from across Australia. Great to see a strong representation of homes from Western Australian as well.

[May 2023] Deepwater House in Mount Pleasant Western Australia has been shortlisted in three categories in the Houses Magazine Houses Awards for 2023. This is a great result for our Studio for what has been a fantastic project for a lovely + passionate family. The house has been shortlisted in the New House over 200sqm, Garden or Landscape and Sustainability Categories. We feel this reflects the complete design journey we love to provide our clients and the consistency in the design work and realisation of the built form. We feel very proud it has been shortlisted with so many other great projects from all over Australia. We look forward to hearing the results in July this year!

[October 2021] Our recently completed Deepwater House for James Setiawan and Anne Andriani in Mount Pleasant WA was included in the Melville City Council’s Contemporary Architecture and Sound Sessions. A great initiative curated by Emma Williamson from The Fulcrum Agency, where local historic architecture is paired with contemporary examples and open to viewing by the general public, with a talk about the project given by our Director Andrew Hagemann. A unique way to view great examples of locally produced architecture.

[June 2021] Delighted to receive a Commendation in the Commercial Architecture Category at the 2021 WA Architecture Awards. A great project outcome for our client Steve Gomes from Rauland Australia, who entrusted us with a very challenging rezoning exercise and commercial brief. Wonderful also that it incorporates two apartments at the upper floor bringing a residential use into the building. Great team on the project include Minchin + Sims Builders, Terpkos Engineering, Wood + Grieve Engineers, Cadds Energy, Alexandra Farrington Landscape Architect and Paul Finucane Building Surveyor

[August 2019] Filming of the Awards Showcase in Sydney in front of the Iconic Opera House by Jorn Utzon was a real delight. Some fantastic projects were celebrated with awards in multiple categories. All presented at the Awards Ceremony in Melbourne Victoria.

[May 2019] Great few days in Sydney judging the Think Brick Awards. Wonderful projects shared with a wonderful group of Judges. Thanks to Think Brick Australia’s Group CEO Elizabeth McIntyre and her team for being the best hosts and being so organised. And a warm thanks to the other judges Rachel + Patrick from Kennedy Nolan, Mel from Make Architecture, and Billy from Kavellaris Urban Design - lots of laughs.

[January 2019] Delighted to start 2019 off with a full page spread as part of the Meet the Architect Feature in The West Australian New Homes section. Sandy Anghie Architect is the author, architect and recent mother. Sandy has been writing a wonderful series of articles on Local West Australian Architects and their practices, so considering how busy she must be we can’t thank her enough for including us in her first article for 2019.

The article showcases our Concrete House (New Residential) and Trellis House (Alteration and Addition) as well as providing insight into how we work with our clients.

[August 2018] Our Brickworks Mixed Use Building and Office fitout for Rauland Australia in Shenton Park Western Australia has been shortlisted in the Workplace Under 1000sqm Category. Again this modest project finds itself in good company with some of the leading lights in Australian Design including Carr, Woods Bagot, Chenchow Little, Architects EAT, Russell & George; as well as large International Design Studios such a Gensler. We're delighted as always to be considered in such company. Looking forward to the awards ceremony in November 2018. 


[December 2017] Our Concrete House in Wembley Western Australia has been voted one of Archilover's best projects for 2017. We've been delighted with the extent of awards that this project has had success in, we believe it's attributable to the strong contextually responsive design and the client's wonderful brief. The creative freedom we received at the start of the project no doubt led to the project's unified form and responsiveness to environment, family development and it's place in the local community. 

We look forward to realising more of these types of houses in the future, with several new projects starting construction that continue the ideology and initiatives first developed in this house [AH].


[August 2016] Concrete House in Wembley Western Australia initially was shortlisted in the Sustainability and Single Residential Categories. To our surprise it received a Highly Commended award in the Sustainability Category with some notable Australian design practices, which included Robin Boyd Award winner Indigo Slam by Smart Design Studio, Six Degrees Architects, Geyer, McBride Charles Ryan and Foolscap Studio.

We feel very proud that this project was considered for the Commendation in such revered company. Thanks must go out to the sponsors INSTYLE and  Niche Media [AH].


[August 2015] Concrete House featured in Think Brick Awards 2015 Booklet. Great to shortlisted in the Kevin Borland Masonry Award with Australian practices M3 Architecture, Taylor + Hinds and Make Architecture.
